Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta is among 11 Heads of State at the funeral of the late Robert Mugabe in Harare.
There are also an estimated eight former Presidents including Ghana’s Jerry Rawlings at the National Stadium.
Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnagangwa arrived for the State funeral alongside his wife Auxillia.
Former First Lady Mugabe, dressed in a black veil, walked in accompanied by her family members.
The casket bearing Mugabe’s body and draped in the country’s flag was wheeled in by State pall bearers who then carried it to a tent at the centre of the stadium.
Steps leading to the small white tent were covered in white roses as were the poles.
Security officers, strategically positioned around the tent ensured that regular mourners sat at the periphery with limited access to the central area.
Government leaders from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Rwanda and other African countries sat at the dais.
They include Uhuru Kenyatta, Yemi Osinbajo, Cyril Ramaphosa, Teodoro Obiang, Equatorial Guinea, Jerry Rawlings, Edouard Ngirente, Sahle-Work Zewde among others.
Other former Presidents are Jacob Zuma and Thabo Mbeki.
There have been conflicting reports as to when the late Mugabe will be laid to rest.
On Friday, a video emerged of President Mnagangwa saying that the government needs to first build a mausoleum for the deceased.
According to him, the construction will take 30 days to complete.
enca, a news TV station in South Africa, said: “It may be 30 days before late former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is buried.”
The broadcaster also quoted Mugabe’s nephew Leo who affirmed that the site at Heroes Acre in Harare needs to be built before the burial can take place.
